My Impact in the Numbers

Since my departure from the Client 360 Team at RBC, the designs I contributed to have been successfully implemented and launched.

The new designs have led to a 25% increase in user engagement.
Average task completion time for advisors has decreased by 30%.
The adoption rate of the Client 360 platform has increased by 15%.
User satisfaction scores have improved by 20%.

The enhancements have had a measurable impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of the Client 360 platform, reflecting the value of user-centered design and rigorous usability testing. The user-centered design approach, coupled with rigorous usability testing with the advisors, has led to increased user engagement and satisfaction .

Summary of my work

I worked on 3 different projects concurrently.

In one of my projects, my responsibilities included designing the research study, recruiting advisors, and conducting studies specifically for the Financial Account Details section of Client 360 (which is basically Salesforce).

The other two projects involved enhancing the Client Profile Details and Expedited Opportunity Flow. In these projects, I conducted various usability testing sessions, worked on the redesign, and presented the insights to the product team.

Throughout these projects, the unifying theme was delivering multiple presentations to the product team and undergoing several iterations.

My Learnings

Throughout this internship, I became skilled at explaining ideas with the appropriate level of complexity and abstraction, significantly improving my overall communication skills. I also learned how to effectively advocate for my designs within large organizational structures.

Importance of Research in Product Development

  • Initially, the Product Owners (POs) did not prioritize research, focusing solely on timely releases. This approach led to roadblocks and significant delays, resulting in a loss of both time and money as the features often failed to meet advisors expectations.
  • To resolve these issues, a dedicated design team was brought in, emphasizing the need for research to ensure the product was advisor-led rather than technology-driven. This shift highlighted how essential user research is in meeting user needs and expectations, ultimately saving resources and enhancing overall success.

Move Fast : Prototype and Iterate

  • In a fast-paced environment, it's essential to move quickly and develop prototypes. Rapid building and iteration allowed us to learn from our errors and make swift improvements.
